it’s a party: celebrate!

It’s important to celebrate big events: sixteenth birthdays, twenty-first birthdays, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs.. fiftieth birthdays and retirements.  Of course there are many, many more big moments to celebrate, each deserving a pretty invitation or card to signify it. This simple invitation works for most of them. With scattered confetti lacing the side, it sets a casual tone when all you really want to do it par-tay! So kick back, relax, prepare to laugh your butt off and have a wonderful time!

bridal shower: lovely fish

This past weekend was my sister’s bridal shower, so I had the opportunity to come up with a few great DIY projects and a lovely invitation for it.  Since my sister and her fiance are into fishing, we tried to stick with that theme and incorporated fish where we could.  The invitations had a fishing pole running up the right hand side that I embellished with fishing wire and eyelets and capped off with a fish at the end of the line.  The fish contained the registry information, while the main invitation help the information and a silhouette of a man and women fishing at sunset.

wedding card: word art

Along with some of the other things that I made for Christine and Jim’s wedding (the Save the Date and the Bridal Shower papers), I made a card to give to them on their wedding day.  Using words relating to their wedding day and to the two of them as a couple, I created a pretty little card that told a story.. and told how much they both mean to me.  And, if nothing else, I don’t think this was a card they can say was duplicated.

Once again, congratulations you two!

bridal shower: paisley

I am absolutely in love with these invitations – which is great because they were really a labor of love.  Along the left hand side, each invitation was cut to take the shape of the hand-drawn paisley design.  Printed on pearl metallic paper, the invitations shimmered and shined, just as I know the bride will on the beginning of her magical journey towards marriage.

bat mitzvah: claire

It’s rare that I’ve been tasked with creating anything other than paperwork for a wedding, but, when my sister presented me with a friend of her’s who needed invitations to her daughters Bat Mitzvah, I figured I was up to the challenge. And then, I started doing some research.  I didn’t know how formal, or not, to go, and so my only solution has been to create a myriad of designs.    The original theme I was told was jungle, so I immediately envisioned bamboo and greenery, and lots, and lots of green.  Ultimately, we decided to go with a more formal design, but the collection as a whole is quite different!

save the dates: kristi and ryan

Inspired by Kristi and Ryan’s wedding colors – red wine, champagne, and blush – these Save the Dates all have one thing in common: cherry blossoms.  Ultimately, the chosen design was turned into a magnet and mailed out in envelopes with matching labels.

prom invitations

I was asked to help create prom invitations for a local high school, and after doing some brainstorming with a few others, came up with a wonderful little idea for these prom invitations.  Using a little bit of everything, these invitations became a labor of love for me.  Hand cut (by a wonderful assistant), each piece was done by hand.  Cream paper was matted on a deep purple, followed by a gold flourish added to each corner and a small stone “bling” in each corner.  Then, using a calligraphy pen, I hand wrote 2010 Senior Prom and The Avenue Le Club Nuit to make each invitation really one of a kind.

save the dates: christine and jim

One of my best friends recently got married. Not only do I have the honor of being in her wedding (whoohoo!), but she asked me to make the Save the Dates  It was exciting to work on a project that meant so much to me, and would also be one of the first things people would see regarding the wedding. When starting this project, my friend gave me a general idea of the types of things she would like to see and let me run with it.  I presented her with variations of the designs at left, and the tweeked them to fit her specifications.  The choice: the black background Save the Date with the blue ribbon going down the left hand side and their names written in an elegant script.

bridal shower paper

As part of my role in a wedding I was recently in, I created a whole “doodled heart” theme that I carried through for the invitations, thank yous, recipe cards (for guests to share a favorite recipe with the bride), and tags for favors.  Since it’s no longer a surprise, I can now share with you the beautiful suite of bridal shower paper I came up with.  To add a special little element to the invitations, I took out my Cuttlebug and did some embossing.

engagement cards: true love stories

Quite possibly one of my favorite designs to date.  The future bride and groom are guaranteed to envision their wedding day, dressed to the nines in similar attire, with this beautiful engagement card.  Inscribed with a romantically beautiful quote, you can congratulate the the future mr. and mrs. with a personalized version in the colors they have chosen for their wedding day.
