Pierre Chocolat Web Design: Pierre Chocolat decided to update their website in December 2008 in the hopes of better representing their brand and also bringing new customer to the site through search engine hits.  brea.vie was able to satisfy this request.  Keeping with Pierre’s Parisian theme, brea.vie worked to create a detailed and attractive website that is as aesthetically pleasing as the chocolate is tasty!

The homepage offers a rotating file that Pierre can change – or add to – to display specials and events.  The automatic rotation of the element allows the viewer to be presented with a larger amount of information over a smaller amount of page real estate.  This element was implemented using JonDesign’s SmoothGallery.

Halfway down the homepage, Pierre Chocolat’s commercial can be viewed – and will automatically play upon initial logon of the site.  This element allows the user a glimpse into what Pierre Chocolat is really like, while next to it, the user can follow what Pierre is doing through their Twitter feed.

Down the left side of the page are the different categories of Pierre’s chocolate and pastry offerings.  Entering any one of these pages presents the viewer with thumbnail images that expand when moused-over while a short description of the items lies underneath.  At the very bottom is a selection guide of the standard items Pierre offers in this category.

The other large section of Pierre Chocolat’s website is the Events page.  Pierre asked for a place to explain, in detail, upcoming events that Pierre would be hosting or attending.  During these events, Pierre’s photographer walks around taking pictures of the people and happenings.  Pierre wanted a place to display these images for his customers, while protecting their privacy by not displaying their image for the publics viewing.  brea.vie implemented a field for the user to put in a special event code that Pierre gives out at each event.  Knowing this event code will bring the user to a gallery of thumbnail images that they can click on and save.

In addition to the initial design, brea.vie maintains and updates Pierre Chocolat’s website on an ongoing basis.
